Home Who We Are
Who We Are The HYDRODYNAMICS GROUP, LLC is an ensemble of some of the country's leading experts in ground water hydrology, and is headquartered in Edmonds, Washington. The group was created by Dr. John Bredehoeft, a nationally recognized expert in hydrogeology, with the vision that a team of seasoned hydrogeologists could provide principal-level consulting expertise for a wide spectrum of water and environmental problems. With The HYDRODYNAMICS Group, principal-level hydrogeologists and engineers do the work. There is no learning at the job's expense. Group members owned consulting, drilling, and managed divisions within major consulting firms and government.

John
Bredehoeft started work in ground water in the 1950's. He worked at the
U.S. Geological Survey for 32 years. At the USGS he engaged in both
research and high-level management. He is the author of more than 100
research papers in the refereed scientific literature. In the 1970s,
Dr. Bredehoeft managed the entire water research program of the USGS.
In the early 1980s, he was the West Coast Regional Manager for the
USGS, responsible for all water activities of the agency in the eight
western states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada,
Oregon, and Washington.
In 1995, Dr. Bredehoeft left the USGS to
start The HYDRODYNAMICS Group. He consulted on a number of the nation's
nuclear waste facilities -- Yucca Mountain, Savannah River Plant and
WIPP. John is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and the
Russian Academy of Natural Science. |

Michael
King is a Registered Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist and
Hydrogeologist with over 22 years of experience in the field of
hydrogeology and environmental engineering. Hydrogeologic projects for
which he had primary technical responsibility include characterization
and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination, watershed/water
resource development and management, aquifer testing and analysis,
drilling technology, and groundwater computer modeling. Michael has
completed over 30 geoenvironmental projects in the last 10 years and 16
watershed studies in the last 5 years.
Michael was a former
owner and Vice-President of ASE Drilling Company and was responsible
for the drilling of over 500 domestic, commercial, industrial, and
irrigation water wells. His other areas of expertise include drilling
technology, hazardous waste management, gas storage engineering, and
geotechnical studies. Michael has held positions on Technical Review
Committees for EPRI's Pittsfield Compressed-Air Energy Storage Project
and the Skagit-Hanford Nuclear Power Plant. He is currently a technical
editor for the Association of Engineering Geologist Bulletin.

- Hydrogeology
- Environmental Engineering
- Ground-Water Exploration
| Dr. John Jansen is a registered Professional Geologist with over 17 years of experience in the field of surface and bore-hole geophysics and, ground water hydrogeology, concentrating on the efficient development and management of ground water resources, which includes the exploration and development, use, treatment, and protection of ground water based water supply systems.
Dr. Jansen's specialty is the strategic identification of well sites in fracture controlled aquifers, and the testing and isolation of vertical zones of aquifers with water quality problems, such as radium, barium, and nitrates. He has sited over one hundred high capacity water supply wells in the United States and Mexico.
Additional areas of expertise include environmental investigations, well design and well rehabilitation. Dr. Jansen invented the Airburst™ well rehabilitation technology (US patent 5,579,845, International Patents pending). He has authored over 60 publications and technical presentations, and is on the Board of Directors for the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society.

- Finite Element Analysis
Dr. Guillermo Paniagua, P.E. is a registered Professional Engineer with
over 35 years of experience in soil and rock mechanics modeling for
dynamic loads. Dr. Paniagua is an expert in soil and rock structural
interaction having performed finite element analysis of concrete and
steel structures that interact with soil and rock to analyze how the
entire system will perform under both static and dynamic loading. He
has recently modeled stress fields for a concrete lined tunnel, tieback
anchor interaction, combination cantilever H-pile, and mechanically
stabilized earth support structure and shotcrete lining of tunnels. He
modeled the integrity of the Norton Mine in Ohio for static and high
pressure air loads, and prepared conceptual shaft plug designs. |
